We had an Awesome week with the letter A. We practiced writing it and talked about airplanes, anteaters, apples, apes, astronauts and alligators. We danced to the crocodile rock song, pretending to crawl like alligators and fly like airplane. We read Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, a book about Noah's ark, and the poems: The Cow in Apple Time and After Apple-Picking by Robert Frost. They loved the part about the cow as "she drools a cider syrup." And we had an apple tasting of Gala, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, and Pink Lady apples, with animal crackers, of course! Yum!!
The number one was fun. We sang "One little monkey swinging in the tree, teasing Mr. Alligator - Can't catch me!" We honored Braeden for one minute for being one years old. We drew the number one and pretended to be a one!
Shape: Square
We found square objects like our school kitchen table, a cd case, a book, and window panes. They glued little red squares onto a plate to form an apple. There were a lot of squares and a lot of glue. But this picture was my favorite square by far!
A Little Red Apple
A little red apple
Hung high in a tree.
I looked up at it,
And it looked down at me.
"Come down, please," I called.
And what do you suppose?
That little red apple
Dropped right on my nose!
